Celebrating 50 Years of Serving Girls!

As Girls Inc. of New Hampshire marks its 50th anniversary this year, we're taking a nostalgic journey down memory lane, reminiscing about our most cherished moments. As we eagerly anticipate the start of another summer camp season next month, we're filled with fond memories of summers past.

Fuel Her Fire Auction Gala

Girls Inc. of New Hampshire's annual Fuel Her Fire Auction Gala, held at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, was a resounding success despite challenging weather conditions. Over 200 attendees braved snow, ice, and high winds on April 4 to support the organization, raising more than $245,000, allowing us to hit our goal. The event featured a lively silent auction with items like golf outings and weekend getaways, followed by entertainment, a champagne toast, and dinner. Dartmouth Health Children's, the presenting sponsor, addressed mental health issues unique to girls, while Girls Inc. alumna Kaylee Hubbard shared how the organization empowered her as a young entrepreneur. The live auction, hosted by former board member Mark Fodero, featured exciting experiences and packages. Proceeds from the gala provide scholarships for girls aged 5 to 18 to participate in Girls Inc.'s programs, covering critical areas such as STEM education, pregnancy and drug misuse awareness, economic literacy, and leadership development. Major event sponsors included Dartmouth Health Children’s, TayMax/Planet Fitness, Comcast, and many local businesses.

Join us on September 9, 2024, for the Girls Inc. Granite State Golf Challenge at Nashua Country Club's Wayne Stiles golf course. Your participation supports our mission to empower underserved girls aged 5 to 18 through literacy, STEM, athletics, mental health, and leadership programs, helping them become future leaders who are STRONG, SMART, and BOLD. Enjoy a boxed lunch, complimentary sausage grill, refreshing beverages, valuable golf gifts, silent auction, contests, and a delicious dinner with awards ceremony in a beautiful outdoor setting. Don't miss this opportunity to make a difference and have a great day of golf!

We only have a few spots left! Don't miss out on being a part of our inaugural Champions for Girls breakfast! Join us from 8:15 to 9:30 AM on June 5th in Nashua or on June 7th in Manchester, right at our centers. Our goal is to inform more friends about the work we do and the impact we make in the lives of the girls we serve. Admission is free!

Leadership Greater Nashua

The Leadership Greater Nashua Class of 2024 chose to build a STEAM room for Girls Inc. for their legacy project. Through successful fundraising events and surpassing their goals, the class raised the necessary funds to make this project a reality. In April, they came together to assemble the room, leaving a lasting impact on our girls and our community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Leadership Greater Nashua Class of 2024 for choosing Girls Inc. as their legacy project.

Fidelity Supports DEI at Girls Inc.

Thanks to funding from Fidelity, we're thrilled to announce the continuation of our Diversity programming. This year's program includes a variety of exciting initiatives: Taste of the Town, where participants will explore new cultures through food and educational activities; Hair Care for All, featuring stylists teaching the importance of safe, nontoxic products for diverse hair textures; and a Diwali Celebration this Fall, led by Board Member Neeta Jayaraman, offering traditional Indian cuisine, cultural education, and festive performances. Fidelity will also be assembling summer care kits for all of the girls attending summer camp this year. Kits will include: sunscreen, bug spray, lip balm, water bottle, and towel.

Thank You M&T Bank!

A sincere thank you to M&T Bank for their programmatic support! Your dedication to our mission helps us empower and uplift young women in our
community. Together, we're making a meaningful difference in their lives. Your generosity is truly appreciated!

Taste of the Town

In partnership with Southern New Hampshire Health, we are proud to offer 'Taste of the Town' this summer, which will teach our campers about world cultures through a lens of intentional, authentic, nutrition-focused meal preparation. In a recent session, we explored the flavors of Puerto Rico by cooking delicious empanadas and rice.

An Absolute Success!

A huge thank you goes out to Absolute Title, LLC for their sponsorship of our Economic Literacy programming at both centers and their support in empowering young women through economic literacy and career exploration! When they completed the program, groups were treated with a tour of their Mobile Closing Vehicle followed by some pizza and t-shirts designed by Mint Printworks. It was an Absolute Success and the perfect way to wrap up National Financial Literacy Month!

Manchester Teen Room

Thanks to a generous anonymous donation and the expertise of Alex Rohe from Arrowstook Custom Builders, a storage space at our Manchester has been transformed into a vibrant Teen Room. This dedicated space will provide our teens with a place to call their own, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. Thank you also to the Saul O. Sidore Memorial Foundation for supplying the installation and purchase of the barn door on the teen room. We're grateful for all of the support that has made this transformation possible, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our teens.

We're excited to announce that Rosalinda Collazo has been selected as our Employee of the Quarter! She is a Group Leader at our Nashua Center. Rosa has consistently gone above and beyond in her role, ensuring that our space is clean, structured, and conducive to learning. She takes great pride in maintaining a well-organized schedule for the girls and ensures that there is consistency in their activities. She motivates them with her encouraging words and positive energy, always showing up with a smile and ready to engage with them. Rosa's presence makes a significant difference in our center, and her commitment to our mission of inspiring girls to be strong, smart, and bold is evident in everything she does.

Join us in welcoming Jessica Grondine to Girls Inc. as our new STEM Program Coordinator! With her wealth of experience in the STEM field, we're excited to see the innovative activities she'll bring to our programs. Jessica has already begun engaging with the girls, sparking their interest in upcoming STEM projects and activities. We're thrilled to have her on board!

Nike Community Ambassadors

Hats off to the Nike Community Ambassadors! Since February, they've been lending their boundless energy and support to both our centers. Their mission? To champion our initiatives aimed at keeping girls active. With their infectious enthusiasm and commitment to inclusivity, they're making a real difference in the lives of our girls.

Lana McCarthy, a senior at Bedford High School and daughter of our CEO Sharron McCarthy, was selected as Gatorade Player of the Year for Volleyball in New Hampshire. As part of Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every Player of the Year receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner and she chose Girls Inc. After she won the award, she submitted a short video to be considered for one of the 12 Spotlight Grants of $10,000 and WON! We are so proud to have her involved with Girls Inc. and to receive this $10,000 grant from Gatorade!

Congratulations to Jaidah Palacios, our 2024 Manchester Girl of the Year! Jaidah's daily inspiration shines through her positivity, kindness, and eagerness to make a difference. Throughout the year, she actively engaged in various Girls Inc. programs, envisioning her career goals in the Economic Literacy Program, aiding lost pets through the Bold Futures Mentoring Program, and performing for Hanover Hill Healthcare Center residents. Her personal growth and positive impact on others are truly remarkable!

Congratulations to Angelina Sanders, our 2024 Nashua Girl of the Year! Angelina has been a Girls Inc. girl since she was 3 years old, and it's been an absolute joy witnessing her transformation into this year's Girl of the Year. She was awarded "Most Likely to Save the Planet" this year, reflecting her deep passion for all living beings. Angelina's boundless curiosity serves as an inspiration to us all. Thank you to King's Daughters for their support of our Nashua celebration.

Thank you to the Puritan Restaurant for their generous contribution to our recent Girl of the Year celebrations. Their delicious feast of world-famous chicken fingers and fries added a special touch to our memorable evenings at both centers.
